Optometry Management

Our optometry management programme gives you essential optometry benefits.  Please note that GEMS will only cover essential optometry expenses related to  your eyesight

We don’t cover:

  • Plano (zero power) lenses for both eyes.
  • Sunglasses and spectacles with lens tints exceeding 35% (unless if you live with albinism).
  • You can’t choose spectacles and contact lenses over the two year benefit (you can only choose one).
  • Bifocal/Multifocal lenses for members under the age of 40 must be motivated.
  • Contact lenses for children under the age of 16 must be motivated.
  • Lens enhancements/coatings.

When you read the benefit schedule you’ll see that there’s a limit for your family   and a sub-limit for each beneficiary (member or dependant registered on your medical plan). Each beneficiary can claim up to the maximum of the sub-limit and the total that the family can claim for is restricted to the 'family limit'.
